Tide
In support of Democrat Maggie Hassan’s 2016 race for New Hampshire Senator, EpandMedia produced radio ad “Tides”—commissioned by agency SKDKnickerbocker. The spot reveals Republican incumbent Senator Kelly Ayotte’s hypocrisy, backing Donald Trump for President until his support in New Hampshire began to decline. The ad is made particularly effective by the audio clips of Trump—disparaging women, ridiculing the disabled, and disrespecting a Gold Star Family—as well as Ayotte declaring that Trump, despite these deplorable actions, is a good role model for children. On Election Day the message resonated with voters, who rejected both Ayotte and Trump.
Work
Commissioned by agency SKDKnickerbocker, EpandMedia produced 60-second radio ad “Work” for Indiana candidate for Governor, Democrat John Gregg. Under Republican Vice Presidential hopeful Governor Mike Pence, Indiana has invested $24 million to keep companies in state, but under loose restrictions countless Indiana jobs have still left the state for other countries. “Work” lays out John Gregg’s accomplishments as Indiana Speaker of the House—working with both parties to cut property taxes and create a community college system—and urges voters to elect John Gregg in November.
Farms and Small Towns
Commissioned by SKDKnickerbocker, EpandMedia produced “Farms and Small Towns” for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. The 60-second radio ad underscores how Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson’s politics are taking away opportunities from Wisconsin citizens. It points out that Johnson, a former multi-millionaire CEO turned senator, is beholden to big corporations and displays no loyalty to the people of Wisconsin. His actions in the Senate are stifling small farms, statewide Internet access, healthcare for veterans, and access to clean water. Johnson is running against former Wisconsin U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, a Democrat.
Kathy Hochul
EpandMedia produced three radio ads in support of Kathy Hochul, Governor Andrew Cuomo’s running mate in the 2014 Democratic Primary for Lieutenant Governor of New York State. Hochul went on to win the Democratic Primary despite strong momentum from an unexpected liberal opponent.
Hochul was a former Congresswoman from western New York and these ads helped introduce her to the rest of the state. Two ads feature major democratic leaders Governor Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio voicing their support of Hochul, outlining her credentials and how she’ll aid the state going forward. A third ad features the former US Congresswoman Kathy Hochul appealing directly for the electorate’s vote.
The ads were creative directed by Len Epand and engineered by EpandMedia’s Kyle Oppenheimer.
Imagine
In support of Barack Obama’s historic Presidential run, EpandMedia, working with Squier Knapp Dunn, produced radio ads targeting the Montana market. The ads feature a folksy tone and criticism of John McCain’s Washington insider status, as well as his tax and energy policy. Although Obama narrowly lost Montana, the ads helped turn a typically Republican state into a battleground state.
Buffalo Endorses
EpandMedia produced and mixed a series of TV and radio ads for Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. In the Democratic primary Eric Schneiderman defeated four other candidates and went on to defeat Republican Daniel Donovan by a comfortable 10% margin. The ad campaign underlined Schneiderman’s promise to fight corruption on Wall Street and in Albany. In contrast, Donovan was painted as a Wall Street insider. In the shadow of the financial crisis Scheiderman’s promise to police Wall Street resonated with New York voters.
